Q. I graduate in May with a Degree in Poltical Science. How do I start a political consulting business servicing Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecitcut and New York? What requirements? Licensing? Certifications, etc? Do I need?

You can do business registration, but political consultant is typically not one of the occupations that require a license to operate unlike daycare operators, contractors or cosmetologists Where are you based? You can go to your local county clerk's office and register your business. File a DBA or doing business as or fictitious name if you will be using a business name other than your given name. You can check with them the requirements needed to start the business. Once you have your DBA, you can bring your business registration forms to the bank so you can open a business bank account under your business name. What career path leads to a consulting position in the IT industry?
Q. Can I jump into a consulting position right away, or do I need years of experience in the workplace before I should even bother applying? What kind of experience would I need in the latter case? I am a senior in college, and will graduate with a degree in Computer Science in 9 months.

I want to start up a consulting business. Do I need to have insurance or be bonded?
Q. My consulting business will primarily provide clients with a way of efficiently organizing their proceedures through the use of a proprietary software application. I may provide them with advice with work flow dilemas, but a larger portion of the business will consist of providing the software application and storing information on a database. I will be operating under an LLC structure but am wondering if I need to be insured or bonded as well.

A. If you don't deal with money then there is no reason to be bonded. You would need auto insurance on your vehicle if you are going to them. But you probably have that anyway.
